William is a passionate instrument engineer with many years of experience in Refining, Chemicals and Integrated Gas design, start-up, operation and maintenance of instrumentation, control systems, safety instrumented systems and automated valves. He thrives at troubleshooting of complex problems with a focus on identifying and correcting root cause issues in a pragmatic manner. He is results focused with strong technical and analytical capabilities, delivering excellent results on a consistent basis.
In March 2025 William retired from Shell and has since joined Petrogenium as Principal Consultant Instrumentation & Safety Instrumented Systems
His specific areas of expertise include field instrumentation (measurement systems), automated valves (control and on-off actuated), and safety instrumented systems. William has 23 years of operating experience at various Shell assets in the US including 10 years as the focal point for maintaining safety instrumented systems site wide. He then moved to a central role in Houston working major projects, became a lead reviewer of safety instrumented systems and was the Principal Technical Expert for Instrumentation and Automated Valves the last 2 years of his 38 year career. He still maintains his Functional Safety Engineer certification he acquired in 2019 from TÜV Rheinland.
